Image What are the Boston Bandits?: They are the oldest semi-pro football team in Boston  and in the New England football League. Teams have come and gone but the Boston Bandits have been here 20 years; the longest tenured team in the NEFL. They are winners of 4 NEFL Championships.  A team built on great defenses (led the league in allowing the fewest points six times in 1998, 2001, ‘03, ‘05, '08 and '12) and a relentless offense (led the league in scoring in 2006). They have fallen three times just 2 games shy of  National Championships in 2003, ’04 and ’05. The Bandits have qualified for the playoffs all 20 years of their existence. Do you want to be part of the Bandit tradition?

Bandits Beat The Colonials
Sunday, 27 July 2014

The Boston Bandits fell behind early but came back to beat the Metro-West Colonials 21-14 in what was billed as a showdown of new up and coming QBs in the NEFL with Adam Headley (Pace University) for the Bandits taking over full time duties and newcomer James Suozzo (Merrimack College/NY Giants). The Colonials took a first quarter lead on a 80 yard drive capped by a Versailles 6 yard touchdown run. The Bandits would not only bounce back, but they did so with three scores in the second quarter. JD Brooks found the endzone on a 2 yard run to tie the game. QB Adam Headley would then connect twice with Fitz Lee for touchdown passes of 53 and 35 yards to place the lead at 21-7 with three successful PATs by Chris Conroy. Ant Thomas set up the Bandits' third score with an interception. Marcus Smith recovered a fumble as well. The Colonials would threaten in the fourth quarter but were thwarted on the goal line by Alvin Edwards' interception. The Bandits would take over at their one yard line but could not manage a first down and had to put the ball away. The Colonials took advantage of the short field when QB Suozzo for Ortiz for a short touchdown pass cutting the lead to 21-14. The Bandits would end the Colonials' last ditch attempt to tie the game on Alvin Edwards' second intercetion of the night. Headley wound up 12 for 18 for 219 yards and 2 TDs while Suozzo finished 8 for 20 for 175 yards 1 TD but 3 INTs. Fitz Lee had 5 receptions for 124 yards and 2 TDs. The Bandits next play the Lowell Nor'easter, Saturday August 9th at English HS in Jamaica Plain at 7PM.
