Bandits end Regular Season on winning note
Tuesday, 29 September 2009

The Bandits (7-3) ended their regular season on a winning note by defeating the Mill City Maulers in a shoot-out 38-29. The Maulers came into the game needing a win for a shot at the playoffs and gave it everything they had. The Bandits opened the scoring when DB Adam Blake intercepted the Maulers’ first possession drive, taking it 84 yards for a touchdown. The Bandits added to their lead early in the second quarter, when QB Clarzell Pearl connected with WR Daryl Hodge for the first of 3 touchdown strikes on the night, and a 13-0 lead. The Maulers, led by QB Alexis Colon cut the margin to 13-7 when hit found Wilson Gonzalez for a 35 yard score. Pearl connected with Hodge and Colon found Andy Howard for scores, putting the game at 25-14 at the half. The Bandit Dance team, who rode into the game on the back seats of the Ruff Ryders, entertained the ground during the halftime. The Bandits picked up where they left off when Hodge’s touchdown made it 31-14. Chris Brady’s interception thwarted the Maulers’ attempt to answer that score. Pearl connected with Darryl Sweet for the first of two 2 yard touchdown catches in the second half, and a 38-14 lead. The Bandits got a balanced attack on the ground from JD Brooks, JT Harold and a 50+ yard burst from Daryl Barnes. The Maulers would not go quietly into the offseason, putting up two scores in the fourth quarter, as Colon found Tom Bennett for a score and Angel Heredia rumbled in from 2 yards out, cutting the lead to 38-29, but it was too little, too late. The Bandits advance to the NEFL Playoffs with an Oct. 3rd rematch against the Bay State Renegades (7-3) at Medway HS at 7PM.

2009 Playoff Brackett

Bandits let one slip away.
Sunday, 20 September 2009

The Bandits led at the half 7-0 after a Clarzell Pearl QB sneqk from the 1 yardline, but the Renegades cut the lead to 7-6 in the 3rd quarter on a 1yard run of their own, but their PAT was blocked. The Bandits would threaten to score a couple more times but could not find a way to score, once being intercepted in the endzone. The 'Gades would take the lead on another 1yard run midway through the 4th quarter (along with a 2pt pass) 14-7. The Bandits, who have clinched a playoff spot will next play the Mill City Maulers, who have to win to have a shot at the playoffs, at English HS in Jamaica Plain, Saturday, Sept. 26th at 7PM.

Bandits' Defense Tames Vipers
Sunday, 13 September 2009

The Bandits intercepted Viper QBs Comer and Brito 6 times returning four for TD's. The Vipers' only score came when Comer (playing LB at the time) scooped up a fumble and out ran his pursuers for a 66 yard TD. Fred Ellis' INT got the Bandits the 7-6 lead in the 2nd quarter. Fitz Lee's first of two INTs was returned 70 yards for a TD, followed by Alvin Edwards' own 70yd INT return for a 21-6 lead at the end of three quarters.  Jason Milton also intercepted a pass for the second straight game. The last TD in the fourth quarter was actually Alvin Edwards' 2nd pick of the night but he lateralled it back to his teammate Leighton "Swiz" Lormeus for the score in what is now becoming a Bandit trend of selfless play (3 times in the last three games). The Bandits (6-2) next travel to play the Bay State Renegades (6-2) on Sept. 19th at Medway HS 7PM.
